The Bodhi Book Club/Potluck
A Discussion Group for those who dwell in Possibility
This is not a stuffy literary book club. We won’t be dissecting and analyzing style (though that may be relevant to some points), but instead we are going to use these texts as an opportunity to connect with one another’s experiences and build compassion and wisdom through the process.
That being our purpose, every contribution will be permitted–laughter, tears, memories, desires, fears, interpretative dance, improvised poetry, new age sketch comedy…however the text moves you, bring that to us in celebration.
Each month we will choose a text that holds the capacity to enchant and deepen our experiences of the mystery and magic in the world around us, that enlivens our senses with wonder, and that carries unique knowledge and perspective–be it that of Western science, Indigenous peoples, or those who have experienced life’s very edges of possibility.
Bring a food item or drink to share with the group!
This is a by donation event. The recommended suggested donation for the space is $5-15.
We will meet every second Sunday from 6:30-8:30. Each meeting will be preceded by a Classical Hatha and Meditation class from 5-6:30, which will be a beautiful opportunity for deeper integration of the material we will discuss.
Our first book will be Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants. It’s a book that brought me to tears with wonder and joy more times than I can count and forever altered the way that I look at and carry myself in the world…in short, its pure poetry.
