Event Details

We live storied lives. What are we but characters in a plot-line that often seems beyond our control–replete with chaos, impenetrable structural walls, a rotating cast of archetypal characters, and the occasional divine hand of god(s) offering us relief?
What if we could view that story from a distance with the assistance of a supportive community? What if we could begin to see the ways in which we lock ourselves into these stories, tie ourselves to these structures, and summon the same character mirrors again and again?
There is freedom to be had in the pen, but first we have to find where it lives in our bodies and how it registers in each our senses. The result can read like a fine work of art, which, of course, our lives are intended to be.
In this introductory session we will utilize meditation, body work, poetry, storytelling, and indigenous relationship healing techniques to excavate, crack open, analyze and rewrite our place in our personal stories and the direction they are carrying us in our lives.
We will utilize sensations in our bodies as our point of focus for object meditation, and then utilize tools from poetry and dream analysis to explore these sensations and the emotions/thoughts/webs of connection that came up in our meditation practice to excavate and explore our personal narratives. We will then share our findings in a supportive talking circle, and build relationships (both internally and externally) from which to form a new foundation for a new identity and greater agency in way we travel through our lives.
$20.00 suggested donation. Contact if finances are an issue for a trade/work study option
